We can’t wait to see you on the 21st March 2026 at All Saints Church for this glorious work. Joyous and life affirming, Haydn’s The Seasons demonstrates the mature composer’s brilliance at orchestral painting and effects. Like The Creation, which we performed in 2023, Haydn intended it to be performed in either German or English, the original English text having been translated into German and back again by Baron Gottfried van Swieten. The immediacy and wit of this depiction of rural characters and their environment teems with life. There are croaking frogs, thunderstorms, hunting horns and the most rousing of drinking songs. This secular oratorio is about birth, death, Spring, Winter and everything in between. Sung in English. Refreshments available from 6.15pm and during the interval. To avoid crowding we recommend pre-ordering drinks for the interval using contactless payment.
