Aldeburgh Festival Recital - 25th June

William will be performing in the 2010 Aldeburgh Festival with Samantha Malk (soprano). The concert will be in the Jubilee hall on 25th June and will include Schumann’s Mignon settings and Debussy’s Proses Lyriques. Marcus Farnsworth (baritone) and Elizabeth Burgess (piano) will be performing in the second half of the same concert. See the concert listing for full details.

Wigmore Hall concert

Hodgson Fellowship

William has been elected the Hodgson Fellow in piano accompaniment at the Royal Academy of Music for the 2009-10 academic year. As part of his duties he will be organising some concerts to celebrate the respective 200th and 150th anniversaries of Robert Schumann and Hugo Wolf next year, so do watch this space for further news.

Strauss and Mahler: songs and duets

This concert is now only a week away: Máire, Nicholas and Will, who were all Britten-Pears Young Artists in 2007 at Snape Maltings where they studied the works of Strauss and Mahler, are reunited for this recital of extraordinary music by these two giants of the late-Romantic Lied. Kathleen Ferrier Awards: Semi-final

William will be accompanying Nicola Hughes (Soprano, 2pm) and April Fredrick (Soprano, 2.30pm) in the 2009 Kathleen Ferrier Awards Semi-final stage at Wigmore Hall on the 22nd April.

Young Songmakers in Concert

William will be performing in the 2009 Young Songmakers Concert at St John’s, Smith Square on 13th May. The programme is based around the songs, duets and quartets of Brahms and Schumann and has been devised and will be introduced by Graham Johnson.

Concert on 15th January - Songs of Songs!

The concert on Thursday 15th January is set to be one of the highlights of the 2008-9 Thursdays at St Stephen’s Series.

James Gilchrist will give the world premiere of Martin Eastwood’s Erotic Fragments and Robert Rice and Rebecca Hodgetts will perform some fantastic sets of songs by Ibert, Quilter, Dove and Walton.

Young Songmakers 2009

William and April Fredrick (Soprano) have been chosen to participate in the 2009 Young Songmakers Project. They will be attending masterclasses with Graham Johnson on 7th and 8th March at Bolivar Hall.

Gerald Moore Award

William has won the 2008 Gerald Moore Award, following a successful competition at Henry Wood Hall in front of a panel headed by Graham Johnson.

Thursdays at St Stephen’s 2008-9 launched!

The second full season of Thursdays at St Stephen’s, a recital series of vocal and chamber music at St Stephen’s Church, Gloucester Road, will begin on 16th October 2008 with a violin and piano recital given by Florence Cooke and Daniel Tong.

Further highlights during the season, which lasts until June 2009, include the world premiere of Martin Eastwood’s Erotic Fragments by James Gilchrist, a concert of Strauss and Mahler sung by Britten-Pears young artists, a return visit to the series by the Nephele Ensemble and an exploration of Wolf’s Morike songbook.

All advance purchases receive a discount of £1 per ticket so do book early. The full concert listings will be up on this site by 1st October.
